Construction

Downer EDI Rail is responsible for the design and construction of the Auburn Maintenance Facility on behalf of Reliance Rail and has sub-contracted the main portion of the works to the John Holland Group.

Construction will begin in 2008 and will conclude in mid 2009. Key construction activities include:

• Temporary works including construction of site offices and amenities
• Site remediation
• In-ground services
• Road works, car parks, walkways and subway
• Track works
• 1500 V DC Overhead Traction Power System
• In-yard signalling and control equipment
• Fencing and security
• Landscaping
• Wash plant building and equipment
• Underfloor Wheel Profiling Plant
• Interface tie-in works with RailCorp
• Other associated works
