John Harkness, Chairman
Mr Harkness was appointed as Chairman of Reliance Rail on 1 February 2011. He was a partner of KPMG for 24 years and National Executive Chairman for five years. Since leaving KPMG in June 2000, Mr Harkness has held a number of non-executive director roles.
Mr Harkness is currently a director at Goodman Group, Charter Hall Retail REIT and Sinclair Knight Merz Management Pty Limited. He is a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He brings extensive financial and business experience to the board.
Mervyn Peacock, AMP Capital Investors
Mr Peacock was appointed a director of Reliance Rail in April 2010.
Mr Peacock currently holds a number of Directorships including RXR Australia Managements Ltd, UniSuper Ltd and Chair of the Investment Committee, Riverland Water Pty Ltd, The Infrastructure Fund of India and Leichhardt Coal Ltd. He is also a member of ASIC’s External Advisory Committee. He was a member of the ASX Corporate Governance Committee from its formation in 2003 until March 2006.
Mr Peacock has had over 40 years domestic and international experience in a variety of investment areas, including Fund Management, Private Equity, Infrastructure and Property. Mr Peacock was Chief Investment Officer and a Director of AMP Capital Investors for five years until his retirement in January 2006.
Mr Peacock qualified as an Associate of the Australian Society of Accountants, is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Mr Peacock was appointed as acting Reliance Rail chair from 25 October 2010 to 31 January 2011.Peter Jollie AM, Downer EDI
Mr Jollie was appointed a director of Reliance Rail in December 2010. He was an Independent Non-executive Director on the Board of Downer EDI Limited from April 2004 until November 2010, including serving as Chairman from February 2008 to November 2010. Mr Jollie is a past President of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and is a Fellow of that body as well as the Australian Institute of Company Directors.Mr Jollie was previously Chief Executive Officer of P&O Containers and Chairman of the Prospect Water Treatment Consortium and was Chairman of the Defence Housing Authority from 1997 to June 2003. Mr Jollie has had a long involvement in international trade, having been the Australian Chair of Asia Pacific Trade Committees and a member of the Trade Policy Advisory Committees to Ministers for Trade for six years to 2002.
John Davenport, Downer EDI
Mr Davenport was appointed a director of Reliance Rail in December 2010. Prior to this he was an alternate director of Reliance Rail for one year. He has been General Manager Major Projects for Downer EDI Limited since 2008, and is responsible for major project financing. Projects include the NSW Rollingstock PPP, the franchising arrangements for the operation and maintenance of the Melbourne Metropolitan Tram Network and the bid for the Gold Coast Rapid Transit PPP.
Previously, Mr Davenport was Head of Group Funding, responsible for all debt and equity funding for Downer EDI Limited group of companies. He was also Head of Investor Relations for Downer EDI Limited. Prior to joining Downer EDI in 2001, Mr Davenport spent ten years in senior roles in investment banking, focused on capital raising for clients. He has over 20 years experience in corporate finance.
Mr Davenport holds a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) degree.
Martyn Jackson, International Public Partnerships
Mr Jackson was appointed a director of Reliance Rail in June 2009.Stuart Gleeson, Royal Bank of Scotland
Mr Gleeson was appointed a director of Reliance Rail in July 2011.
Mr Gleeson is an independent strategic and financial consultant whose clients have included PriceWaterhouseCoopers, AuIron Energy Limited/Felix Resources Limited, Ausmelt Limited, the Toll Group, Allco Finance Group and subsequently its Administrator and Eureka Funds Management Limited. Currently he is engaged by Low Carbon Australia Limited to assist it to catalyse private sector investment in and take up of energy efficient technologies and practices.
A graduate in Commerce (Econometrics), Mr Gleeson also serves on the boards of Directors of listed and private companies including CrossCity Motorway Pty. Limited. He is a councillor of the Australian-British Chamber of Commerce, a not for profit entity.
Mr Gleeson was a founding member and General Manager of Lease Underwriting Limited and a Director at Chase AMP Capital Markets Limited. He was a partner of the AusAsean Group Limited and prior to establishing his consultancy, was Head of Infrastructure Investment at Commonwealth Investment Management, the financial asset management arm of Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
Ian Hunt, Chief Executive Officer
Mr Hunt was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Reliance Rail in March 2011. Mr Hunt is the former Connector Motorways Chief Executive Officer and is an engineer and business manager with a sound track record of major infrastructure development. He oversaw the delivery of Sydney's Lane Cove Tunnel ahead of time and on budget, managed the smooth transition from construction to operations, and guided the tunnel company through its financial difficulties.Prior to Connector Motorways, Mr Hunt was Project Director and State General Manager at Kellogg Brown & Root, and a general manager at Maunsell in Victoria and London. He is a fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia.
