The largest single procurement of passenger trains in Australian history

Under the Rolling Stock PPP, Reliance Rail has financed and delivered 78 eight-car Waratah train sets, 2 spare driver carriages, the Auburn Maintenance Centre (“AMC”, a purpose-built facility in western Sydney) and 4 simulator cars for driver training.

With the manufacturing phase completed in 2014, Reliance Rail is operating in the ‘Through-life support’ phase of the Rolling Stock PPP Project until 2044. This phase includes all maintenance and support activities for the fleet, the AMC and the simulators.

The overarching goals for Reliance Rail and our partners are to maximise availability, reliability and operational performance of the fleet, achieve strong safety performance, maintain robust financial performance and strive to deliver our sustainability objectives.

Reliance Rail is now certified to ISO9001:2015 Quality Management Systems, ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems and ISO45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.

The ISO accreditation in these 3 key management systems is a positive demonstration of robust and up to date management systems supporting the continued successful operation of the project. Reliance Rail will strive to maintain and exceed the requirements of these high standards and continue to lead industry best practice.
